Delhi air

In 1952, London was swallowed by a dense fog. For four days, from the 5th to the 9th of December , it brought London to a standstill. A report published after this event apparently put the number of deaths at 3500 people to 4500 people. A supposedly more scientific analysis of the data came up with 12000 deaths.

India , as a democratic nation, with no democratic history, a country whose constitution was written barely 70 years ago, has an advantage which it seems to have squandered. Repeatedly, until crisis reaches mammoth proportions and then after much hand wringing , we look west. Why not look west now before it happens ?

I am talking of course about the air pollution in our nations capital. It has been repeatedly ravaged with terrible air pollution year after year. There was a brief period when things got better in between with the introduction of cng buses, but its worse now.

The govt in Britain passed the clean air act in 1956. Might be worth the time of day to go through it once. Govt of Delhi, are you listening ?
